This is an analysis on question related to the evaluation to measure the
students’ ability in English skill. This research is based on the number of
problems that were related to tool or question made by the teacher. Teacher
should prepare the appropriate questions for the heterogenic students in class
because good multiple choice test is the test which is not too difficult and not too
easy.
Language test was used to determine a person’s knowledge and the ability
in language. The writer measured the standard in the test by doing the reliability to
each question including the difficulty level, discriminating power, destructor and
omit. The writer used the descriptive qualitative method. The population were 20
students of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo Academic Year 2021 – 2022. The instrument
was the test. In collecting data, the test was held and the result was analyzed
afterward.
After the research was done, from 1 sheet of the test papers of 20 multiple
choice questions with 2 destructor choices, 1 keyword, and 1 omit, shows that all
of the questions in the test have medium difficulty level, medium discriminating
power, and the destructor and the omit has function as well. Furthermore, it can be
said that the questions of English formative test in the first grade of STKIP PGRI
Sidoarjo Academic Year 2021 – 2022 is qualified for the students.
Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded the test given to the
first grade students of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo Academic Year 2021 – 2022 was
qualified. Based on the suggestion that each teacher or the test maker specially the
maker of multiple choice type, evaluate the question to know whether it is
qualified to be given to the students or not.
