This study was aimed to determine the implementation of speaking
descriptive text teaching using outdoor learning, and to describe student responses
in the implementation of speaking descriptive text teaching using outdoor learning
to eighth grade students. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative research
design as the research design. The subjects of this study were English teacher and
eighth grade students. Researcher used observation field notes and questionnaires
to collect data.
In data analysis, researcher identified use observation field notes and gave
questionnaires, after got data reduce according to the statements problem,
researcher classified data based on observations and questionnaires, in display
researcher described findings from observations and questionnaires and as a
conclusion, researcher described the implementation and student responses about
teaching speaking descriptive text using outdoor learning.
The first finding, in the implementation of teaching speaking descriptive
text using outdoor learning, the teacher always opened the lesson by greeted,
prayed, sang the Indonesia Raya anthem and checked the attendance list. In the core
activity, the teacher explained about descriptive text, generic structure, and purpose
of descriptive text. After that, the teacher asked the students to make a descriptive
text. Then the teacher asked students to come forward to talk about what they have
made about descriptive text. The teacher always leads and controlled the students'
speaking activities from beginning to end. In the second finding, the response of
students used outdoor learning in teaching speaking descriptive text was good,which showed that students were interested because it was useful for their speaking.
The researcher concluded that teaching speaking using outdoor learning can be
applied in the teaching and learning process. And it showed that students were
interested and agree with the use of outdoor learning in teaching descriptive text,
because it was useful for their speaking.
