Writing is one of the language four skills has always been part on the teaching of
English. One of the text taught for the tenth grade students of vocational high school is
narrative text. Most indonesian students have some difficulties and composing their writing.
To overcome this probelm, the teaching media are needed. The researcher has two statements
of the probelm. They are 1) How is the use of English movie to teach writing narrative text to
the tenth grade student, 2) How are the students’ response in learning writing narrative text
by using English movie. The object of the obsrved was X Ak 1 class of SMK PGRI 2
Sidoarjo. There were 44 students. The researcher did observation for two meetings. The
design of the research was descriptive qualitative. The instruments used by the researcher
were observation checklits, and questionnaire. The result of the study showed the students
had three steps when she was implementing of English Movie. The first the pree activity
(giving brain storming). The second is whilst activity (explaining about narrative text,
dividing the students and write t story according generic structure). The third is post activity
(giving comment or feedback, giving summary) And the result of students’ response toward
the implementation of English Movie in teaching writing narrative text was good. It showed
that English Movie helped the students to be able to write narrative text and the students paid
more attention to the lesson, enjoy and enthusiasm.
